Mikaela Martin is a highly accomplished South African equitation rider and showjumper, recognised for her strong technical foundation, disciplined work ethic, and deep connection with her horses. Having grown up on a competitive stable yard, Mikaela has been immersed in the equestrian world from an early age, developing a natural understanding of horsemanship, care, and performance.
Her early career as a pony rider was marked by exceptional success, producing multiple ponies to open level and earning numerous national and provincial accolades. Among her standout achievements was a dominant partnership with her pony Bronze Master, with whom she secured championship titles and recognition for both performance and style. She also represented her province as part of the Open Gauteng Pony Rider Team, contributing consistently faultless rounds to strong team results.
Transitioning into junior ranks, Mikaela continued to demonstrate remarkable progression, successfully moving from pony classes into junior showjumping within a short period. Her partnership with Cosmic Girl saw her rise through the ranks to compete confidently at 1.30m and 1.35m level, collecting multiple championship wins and series titles along the way. This partnership laid the foundation for Mikaela’s reputation as a rider capable of producing results while prioritising correct development and long-term soundness.
Following Cosmic Girl’s retirement, Mikaela shifted her focus to developing younger horses, most notably Penbritte Quick Silver. Together, they achieved significant success across youth and junior championships, consistently delivering top performances in competitive fields. Her results across showjumping and equitation highlight her versatility, composure, and ability to perform under pressure.
Mikaela has represented Gauteng in both showjumping and equitation team competitions, contributing to winning team performances and earning individual placings in highly competitive championships. Her riding reflects precision, balance, and a thoughtful approach that places the horse at the centre of every performance.
